Part-Time Accounts Payable Specialist

Job Overview


Part-time Accounts Payable Specialist with strong accounting skills, industry-specific knowledge, and personal traits that fit the fast-paced, detail-heavy nature of construction projects. The ideal candidate will bring a positive attitude daily and look forward to working with our team, clients, and vendors. Responsibilities include verifying balances, job allocation, communication with vendors and clients, and data entry. You will also need to be available to assist with the accounts receivable and accounts payable functions of multiple entities.


Qualifications

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field; 3 years’ experience performing similar duties may be substituted for a degree

  • Solid understanding of AP fundamentals – invoice matching, approvals, payment terms, and reconciliations.

  • Experience in a job costing environment is preferred- ability to allocate costs to the correct project, phase, and cost code.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to stay efficient and focused on scheduled tasks

  • Strong communication skills

  • Attention to detail -construction invoices often involve multiple cost codes, retainage, and partial payments.

  • The ability to work as part of a team

  • Experience with MS Office products: Teams, One Drive, Word Excel, etc.

  • Experience with construction accounting software – *Foundation Software experience preferred*

  • or similar such as e.g., Sage 300, Viewpoint, Procore, QuickBooks Contractor Edition

  • Additional Qualifications (Plus)

  • Understanding of retainage – knowing how to track and release retainage properly.

  • Lien waiver and compliance knowledge – ensuring proper documentation before payments are released.
