Horticultural Spray Technician - Experience Required
Job Overview
This position is responsible for the safe and effective application of chemical treatments to landscaped areas in order to maintain and enhance the health of turf and plant materials. The role involves accurately calibrating and applying products, monitoring treated areas for existing or potential issues, and maintaining detailed records of applications and site conditions. The individual operates and maintains various equipment, including spray trucks and spreaders, while adhering to safety and regulatory standards. Success in this role requires strong communication skills, the ability to follow instructions, and the capacity to work independently in outdoor environments with a flexible schedule. Candidates should have a high school diploma or equivalent, relevant experience or education, a valid driver’s license, and either hold or be able to obtain a Chemical Applicator’s Certification.

Key Responsibilities
Correctly and safely apply chemicals to designated landscaped areas to maintain or improve the condition of the plant materials or turf.
Proper application and calibration of proper chemicals to designated landscaped areas to improve and/or maintain the condition of the plant materials or turf
Monitor targeted application areas for existing and potential problems
Maintain records of products used, problems encountered, or other information essential to the job
Maintain and safely operate various equipment, including a spray truck, backpack sprayers, rotary and drop spreaders, and all related application and calibration products
Skills
Excellent communication skills and can follow both written and verbal instructions
Ability to work long hours and a varying schedule
Work independently or with others under little or no supervision
Qualifications
High school degree or GED required
At least one year experience or a minimum of a two-year degree in related field
Must currently have or be able to obtain a Chemical Applicators Certification
Must have a valid driver's license with clear Motor Vehicle Record (MVR)
Can lift over 51 lbs.
Working outdoors under varying environmental conditions is required
Chemical Applicator License (Preferred)
