Commercial Construction Project Superintendent

Job Overview


Assists the Senior Project Manager with many logistical, operational and strategic tasks included but not limited to coordination of sub-contractors and vendors, project organization and execution, project estimating and budgeting, safety supervision and management. Also may perform general construction services including but not limited to carpentry, masonry, and concrete work. Also represents Foret Contracting Group in meetings and the public in general.  May supervise 3-5 team members.  Must keep a positive attitude no matter what the situation.


  • Able to plan, organize, supervise and oversee the completion of projects within established time frame and budget.

  • Able to work as a team leader and member in a neat, clean, courteous and efficient manner.

  • Able to read blueprints using a scale ruler for accurate “take-off”

  • Adherence to company policy and safety standards.
    Professional personal conduct and habits.

Note*: As stated above, the Superintendent is responsible for the overall project success and is expected to be present and in substantial control of the project at all times when sub-contractors are present on-site and working.


Full Time Position with on-call responsibilities based on project / event schedule

General

  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including safety and regulations. Be aware of the safety of the public and fellow associates. Enforce the Foret Safety Policy and be willing to remove those who will not cooperate and practice the policy.


Documentation & Communication

  • Timely documentation of:
    A. Work completed daily
    B. Any deviations from plans and specs
    C. Any change order items
    D. Progress photos
    E. Notify Senior Project Manager of and existing or potential problems
    F. Interaction and communication with clients.

  • After attempting to solve challenges yourself, inform and advise Senior PM of the assistance required with possible solutions developed.

  • Initiate and complete all required paperwork within established time frame.

  • Properly complete, process and communicate all work.


Supervision & Project Execution

  • Manage and supervise assigned crew members as needed.
    Communicate and teach crew members to complete job within estimated time frame and most importantly meet budget for the project.

  • Plan and organize work for crew members on job.

  • Maintain equipment in good operating condition.

  • Be knowledgeable in First Aid procedures.

  • Be able to use a variety of equipment including but not limited to: Trenchers, Ride-on Skid Loaders and Bob Cats.

  • Properly notify for LA One Calls.

  • Demonstrate the ability to drive a truck while towing a trailer..

  • Must layout projects from blueprints with little assistance from Senior PM within 6 months of hire.

  • Wear appropriate company branded clothing and safety toed boots.

  • Be willing to perform any other tasks required as directed by Senior Project Manager


Required Qualifications
  • Must have a valid Louisiana driver’s license, an insurable driving record, and qualify to drive a company vehicle.

  • Must be able to read blueprints

  • Must understand and have the capacity to interpret and follow specifications.

  • Must be proficient with grading and drainage solutions and implementation.

  • Must have a working knowledge of the English language.

  • Must have knowledge of basic electricity.


Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to lift over 51 pounds


Key Skills & Attributes
  • Should know and be able to use the following equipment
    Smart Phone, and / or IPad

  • Computer with MS Office Software.

  • Tape measure / Laser for shooting grade elevations

  • Basic Carpentry Tools

  • Scale Ruler

  • Skid Steer, Excavator, Loader, Trencher, Ride – on Skid Loader and Bob Cat
